It looks like Donald Trump has some harsh criticism for Brittney Griner!

During a recent interview, the 76-year-old former President was asked about 31-year-old WNBA star’s detainment in Russia. In his response, Donald Trump accused Brittney Griner of being, “potentially spoiled” and traveling to Moscow “loaded up with drugs.” Trump said,

“She went in there loaded up with drugs into a hostile territory where they’re very vigilant about drugs. They don’t like drugs, and she got caught. And, now we’re supposed to get her out, and she makes, you know, a lot of money, I guess.”

He continued,

“We’re supposed to get her out for an absolute killer and one of the biggest arms dealers in the world. Killed many Americans. Killed many people.”

As previously reported, Brittney Griner has been detained in Russia since February after authorities said they found cannabis oil in her luggage at a Moscow airport and accused her of smuggling significant amounts of a narcotic substance. She faces up to 10 years in prison. Griner’s trial in Russia began July 1. On July 7, the two-time Olympic gold medalist pleaded guilty to possessing vape canisters containing cannabis oil in her luggage at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport in February.

Now, the Biden administration has offered to exchange Viktor Bout, a convicted Russian arms trafficker serving a 25-year US prison sentence, as part of a potential deal to secure the release of Brittney Griner and Paul Whelan. From the looks of it, Donald Trump isn’t too pleased about this potential exchange.

Trump went on to share his disdain for the possible trade of Griner and Bout. He said,

“It certainly doesn’t seem like a very good trade, does it? He’s absolutely one of the worst in the world and he’s gonna be given his freedom because a potentially spoiled person goes into Russia loaded up with drugs.”
